Grip is an Apple Pencil notebook for iPad. Write the way you think — then the Claude you already pay for reads the page and gets things done in Tana, Notion or Todoist.
Autumn 2026 on the App Store. The list gets TestFlight first. No newsletter.
Put the Claude app in Split View. It reads what you wrote — in your words, not a transcript you have to check — and answers in the same window. Nothing copied, nothing typed twice.
Here's what you wrote:
I added 3 tasks to Todoist and pinned the list on your page.Todoist
Ink stays ink. Grip never turns your strokes into boxes or typed text on the page — the feel is Apple Pencil, not a form. Pages, boards, a journal that already exists when you open the app.
On the iPad, recognition builds a search index. Your own Claude — the app, Claude Code, any MCP client — reads the page as text and, where recognition doubted, looks at the ink itself. Its corrections make search better.
Ask for tasks in Todoist, a page in Notion, a node in Tana. Claude does it with the connectors you already have, then leaves a short note in your margin saying what it did.
Everything you expect from a Pencil app, done with care. And a page your AI can read.
Grip does what a Pencil notebook should. Then the Claude you already use reads the page — and answers on it.

Compared on September 10, 2026, from each app's public pages and published reviews. GoodNotes' Claude connector creates new documents from a chat; it doesn't read your notebooks. Planner templates are linked PDFs you import; Grip's journal creates today's page and places it in its week and month.
Grip never talks to an AI company. You do, with the account you already have.
Grip works with your Claude. It isn't made by Anthropic.

You need an AI that speaks MCP: the Claude app (Pro or Max), Claude Code, or ChatGPT with connectors. Grip doesn't include a model, and doesn't charge you for one.
Yes. Writing, journal, documents, search by title, notebook and tag, export — all of it runs on the iPad. Grip Cloud adds search inside your handwriting, re-read by your Claude, plus sync, and lets your Claude reach your notebooks from anywhere.
On your device, to feed search and your Claude. On the page, never: your ink stays ink. Claude reads a text version and, when the recognition is unsure, the ink itself.
Grip runs on Mac for reading, typing, organising and for Claude Code. Writing is iPad with Apple Pencil.
Any tool your Claude is connected to: Tana, Notion, Todoist, Linear, Obsidian, calendars, mail. Grip just makes the page readable; Claude does the rest with your connectors.
