    Ink stays ink. Grip never turns your strokes into boxes or typed text on the page — the feel is Apple Pencil, not a form. Pages, boards, a journal that already exists when you open the app.

    On the iPad, recognition builds a search index. Your own Claude — the app, Claude Code, any MCP client — reads the page as text and, where recognition doubted, looks at the ink itself. Its corrections make search better.

Questions people ask.

Do I need a Claude subscription?

You need an AI that speaks MCP: the Claude app (Pro or Max), Claude Code, or ChatGPT with connectors. Grip doesn't include a model, and doesn't charge you for one.

Does Grip work without the cloud?

Yes. Writing, journal, documents, search by title, notebook and tag, export — all of it runs on the iPad. Grip Cloud adds search inside your handwriting, re-read by your Claude, plus sync, and lets your Claude reach your notebooks from anywhere.

Is my handwriting turned into text?

On your device, to feed search and your Claude. On the page, never: your ink stays ink. Claude reads a text version and, when the recognition is unsure, the ink itself.

What about Mac?

Grip runs on Mac for reading, typing, organising and for Claude Code. Writing is iPad with Apple Pencil.

Which tools can Claude act in?

Any tool your Claude is connected to: Tana, Notion, Todoist, Linear, Obsidian, calendars, mail. Grip just makes the page readable; Claude does the rest with your connectors.
